Hello, everyone! WELL it's been a while! I moved. Not pages, but houses! I'm typing this from the darker skies of central Virginia. My old house closes today, and all of the telescopes made it to the new digs safely. (Whew!) The local bookstores have yielded some great astro-books, too. You should SEE the moon rising over the peaceful landscape, and man, the stars shine brightly here. There's also bear and coyote to up the stakes for nocturnal activities, too. I used to keep an ear out for junkies wandering through the woods at my old place - now the listening has to shift a bit. Fingers crossed that the only bears I see while observing are the celestial ones - Ursa Major and Minor, that is! Off to go scout good locations to set up scopes - but there's a quick update, and we'll be back to our regular programming!
Don't forget, folks! The Perseid meteors peak overnight. https://www.space.com/32868-perseid-meteor-shower-guide.html
Heya folks! Annnnd we're back. The Perseid meteor shower is approaching, peaking on August 11/12. What if you're like some of my buddies, and are blind? Or it's raining? Listening to 'em is a great way to observe. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa14fOybJ4qTosQPa1TJdcw
I got to learn how to use a thirty foot telescope last night. It was "out of this world!" https://joshurban.substack.com/p/shoot-the-moon?s=w
